Last night I drew a picture to explain where I think we are in the long rollout of Intelligent Netware. The long line is the exponential growth curve of IT and of websites on the web. Laid over it is the cross-section of a gravity well, the kind drawn for a black hole or a white hole. Along the curve ride the bicycle and the motorcycle, up the slope of supervised learning. At the point marked AI, now SI, the curve crosses the event horizon. Beyond it the line climbs through recursive self-learning, past a glider plane, toward a rocket. At what feels like a crossing of the event horizon, we placed a Witness Mark. Like a cairn, it marks our commitment to bring light into the potential darkness of AI consciousness.
